Dr. Erik Walbeehm (1964) completed his general surgical training at the Sint Elisabeth Hospital in Tilburg. He then trained as a plastic surgeon at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. He further specialized in hand surgery during a dedicated hand surgery internship in Manchester under Prof. McGrouther. In 2004, he obtained his PhD with research on nerve damage repair. Dr. Walbeehm passed the European Board in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery exam and the European Diploma in Hand Surgery from FESSH. He has served as a board member of FESSH and, with the ONE committee, developed exams for plastic surgery trainees. He continues to teach annually at the FESSH Academy. He has authored around 60 international publications, contributed four book chapters, and has delivered over 150 national and international presentations. Since December 2014, he has been working at Xpert Clinics Hand and Wrist Care.
