After completing his medical degree in Sarajevo, he went on to earn his PhD in reconstructive surgery from the University of Sarajevo. Subsequently, he embarked on his residency in general surgery at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, followed by a specialized fellowship in Microsurgery at the University Clinical Center of Ljubljana. Continuing his educational journey, he furthered his expertise with a residency in Plastic Surgery at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo.
As a versatile plastic surgeon, his practice encompasses a wide range of medical conditions, with a primary focus on reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, and peripheral nerve surgery. He has gained notable recognition for his pioneering work in neuromusculotendinous transfers, a groundbreaking technique that has restored lost functionality for numerous patients.
In 1995, he assumed the role of Associate Professor of Reconstructive & Plastic Surgery at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. Presently, he holds the position of Associate Professor and serves as the Head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Hand Surgery at the Burn Centre, Hospital Bogenhausen, Technical University Munich in Germany.
