In 2020 he received his PhD degree on the thesis “The Rotterdam Diabetic Foot Study – A different view on lower extremity neuropathy”.
He currently works as a principal investigator and resident physician in plastic and reconstructive surgeon training at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery at the University Medical Center Utrecht.
His (research) interest is mainly in peripheral nerve surgery, neuropathy of the lower extremity and the (reconstructive surgical) treatment of the diabetic foot. Current projects are the ‘Rotterdam Diabetic Foot Study’ that I started and the ‘DeCompression’ trial. He has expertise in somatosensory testing, quantitative sensory testing, psychometrics, decision theory, cost-effectiveness research (Markov modeling) and scale development (Mokken Scale Analysis and parametric forms of Item Response Theory).
