In the 80th en 90th, Ralph JPM Franken, MD, MM, studied Medicine and followed his resident training program in Utrecht, Rotterdam and Louisville, KY, USA. He now is a fulltime plastic and hand surgeon for more than 20 years. He practices in the south of the Netherlands, together with his 6 colleagues.
Besides being head of the department Plastic, Reconstructive en Hand surgery JBZ Den Bosch, together with Nijmegen en Utrecht, he and his colleagues provide the Dutch training program for doctors to become plastic surgeons.
The last 10-15 years, hand en nerve surgery has become his main topics, apart from esthetic surgery. He is part of the DeCompression (DeCo)-trial from the beginning of the project, and has operated on many diabetics with peripheral neuropathy.
