After graduating as medical doctor, he followed a resident training program for Plastic, Reconstructive en Hand surgery. He did a fellowship in hand surgery at the Institut Kaplan in Barcelona. He now is a fulltime plastic and hand surgeon in Rotterdam.
In 2004, he received his PhD degree on the thesis “Median and ulnar nerve injuries: prognosis and predictors for clinical outcome”.
Besides being head of the department Plastic, Reconstructive en Hand surgery JBZ Den Bosch, together with Nijmegen en Utrecht, he and his colleagues provide the Dutch training program for doctors to become plastic surgeons. He is part of the DeCompression (DeCo)-trial from the beginning of the project.
